Quote by Jackson Kiddard

  • Anything that annoys you is “for” teaching you patience.
  • Anyone who abandons you is “for” teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet.
  • Anything that angers you is “for” teaching you forgiveness and compassion.
  • Anything that has power over you is “for” teaching you how to take your power back.
  • Anything you hate is “for” teaching you unconditional love.
  • Anything you fear is “for” teaching you courage to overcome your fear.
  • Anything you can’t control is “for” teaching you how to let go and trust the Universe.”

Looking for Shirra Alissa George

This is certainly a piece of shocking news that I received through several emails sent from friends.  I certainly hope and pray that with all the postings and highlightings through all means of media, including that of the internets, the girl will return safely to her family and loved ones :

Dear All,

Shirra Alissa George, 19 is a student at KLIMU, was reported missing on between 8.50pm to.9.05pm on Monday, 14th November 2011 along Jalan Bukit Indah 3/14, Bukit Indah, Ampang after disembarking from Rapid KL bus from KL city on her way home to Tiara Intan Condominium where she stays with her parents, Sarawakian.

Based a CCTV recording from nearby house, the incident occurred at about 9.00pm. She was abducted by at least three guys, believed to be in the twenties driving a black Proton Persona which was seen driven along the street from 8.50pm. Some of her personal belongings that was found at the scene was her handphone, a torned backpack with books scattered all over the ground and an empty purse.

What was so disheartening was that she made 2 attempts to call her parents but only after her third attempt her mother answered her her call and she was heard screaming asking for help and telling her mother..."ada orang kejar saya, ada orang kejar saya", the phone was quite. her dad and few residents rushed to the scene which was about 100 meters from the condo entrance but failed to locate her whereabouts.

I sincerely hope that you may kindly assist us, residents of Tiara Intan Condominium, to spread this news to friends, colleagues and relatives. Let's pray that the abductors would release her unharmed real soon.

Should anyone has any leads please contact Criminal Investigation Dept., Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters at 03-42897222 or nearby police station.

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

Mohamad Yusri

ARUN SA WAT (GOOD MORNING), SADAO!! - 16th Sept, 2011

77 of us, my colleagues, their family, friends, myself and the tour guides, left Kuala Lumpur on 15th Sept night in 3 coaches and we heard that there were 400 Malaysian buses/coaches scheduled to arrive in Hat Yai on the 16th.  Sure enough, to our expectation, the traffic was really bad; it took us more than 12 hours to reach Hat Yai city, instead of the normal 9-10 hours.  Goodness gracious... The longest bus trip I've ever had....

We were divided into 3 groups; Yellow, Blue & Green. This is the VVIP Double Decker Coach for our group, The Yellow Team.

Shortly, after we started our journey, it rained.

The Malaysian Tour Guide, Mr Francis Wong of Nanyang Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd, for our Yellow Team.

Passport, please..... The Malaysian Custom & Immigration checkpoint at Bukit Kayu Hitam.

We reached the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint (view of the entrance) at approx. 7.50am

Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint - view of the exit. We finally left the checkpoint at about 8.35am

The Malaysian Fisheries Development Board on the right, immediately after the checkpoint.

On the way to the Sadao (Thailand) Custom & Immigration checkpoint, we passed by the Malaysian Bukit Kayu Hitam Army Camp.

The sentry post at the army camp.

We finally made it to the Sadao (Thailand) Custom & Immigration checkpoint at approx. 10.00am. The queues were long at every counter. Many tried to cut queue.

Queueing for clearance at booth ABCD. We were told not to alight from our coach, like others, and walk to the immigration counters. Reason given was that when our coach finally reached the spot for buses/coaches inspection and the immigration officers, on seeing the coach without any passengers on board, they would make our driver to turn around and queue again at the end of the line as a punishment for cutting queue. We were alighted only when we had reached the designated area and from there, an officer guided us to the lanes to queue for passports processing.

Flags right in front of the Sadao checkpoint, facing Bukit Kayu Hitam.

View of the Sadao clock tower from the carpark at the checkpoint.

The Thai Tour Guide, Mr Thiraphat (Ah Yot), for our Yellow Team.

Leaving the Sadao checkpoint at approx. 11.00am, to head for Hat Yai

Of Lanterns and Candles....

Today is the Mid-Autumn festive day but we actually had our family reunion makan last night, Sunday, for the sake of convenience.  This was our dinner; Nasi Kunyit (Turmeric Rice), Udang Assam Ala Nyonya (Tamarind Prawn Nyonya Style), Kari Ayam (Curry Chicken) and Teh Serai (Lemongrass Tea).

Tonight, the girls (my daughter and our neighbour) played with lanterns and candles.  I gave them a Hung Ming Lantern to release.  My... my..... They were really excited when the Lantern lifted from their hands and moved up...

Historical Documentary: 10 Years Before Merdeka (Independence) of Malaya

I had watched the full video at Vimeo, http://www.vimeo.com/344899, sometime back but was unable to share it here.  I searched at Youtube and found the following 4 parts, which makes up the whole documentary.  (I could not use the ones directly from Fahmi Reza because the 2nd part has been blocked or something like that....) Interesting facts to be made known to all.... especially the young Malaysians (like myself... hehehehe...) or those who were too young to have known/remembered.....

Fahmi Reza and his team have certainly done a wonderful job here.

This historical documentary, directed by Fahmi Reza, is about the struggle for independence, in which different races across Malaya unite and engage in political action - Hartal across Malaya on the 20th October 1947. This documentary aims to remember and acknowledge the contributions of the left wing political parties in the quest for our country's independence.

On 31st August, 1957.... The Federation of Malaya (Persekutuan Tanah Melayu) gained her Independence....

Pictures are by courtesy of Mr Chung Chee Min, who was present at the Merdeka Stadium (Stadium Merdeka) on that proud and historical day 31st August, 1957..... proudly witnessed the Proclamation of Malayan Independence, followed by the shouts of "Merdeka... 7x" by our 1st Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah, and the raising of the Flag of Malaya (the lowering of the Union Jack too) while the national anthem (Negaraku)was sung....; signifying the Independence of The Federation of Malaya (Persekutuan Tanah Melayu)

Brother Chee Min shared his treasure with us:

Since it's August 31, I'd like to share my composite photo of the stadium on that day 54 years ago, as snapped by me. The Malay Regiment is mounting the guard of honour and music is provided by the Police band. The field is ringed by cadets and members of the St John's Ambulance Brigade (in white).
Hari Merdeka signifies the Independence of Malaya and is not to be confused as the formation of Malaysia.  Malaysia was formed in 1963 on 16th September (which is now being known as Malaysia Day) when Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak merged into the Federation of Malaya.  Then in 1965, Singapore became independent and was no longer in Malaysia.
However, surprisingly Malaysia Day was never celebrated in the peninsular (West Malaysia), until 2010 when 16 September was finally declared as an official federal public holiday for the whole nation.

Merdeka.. Merdeka.. Merdeka....
